There’s nothing quite like a serious helping of new games to keep us happy. It’s a good job that March is turning out to be such a fruitful month from brand new titles; we’ve seen a plethora of games released in the past 2 weeks, and are expecting a good handful more before the month is out. Today I’m going to fill you in on some of the most important releases so far: a couple of Microgaming slots released last week; a few Playtech slots released this week; and an upcoming slot from NextGen.
Last week saw the old and trusted developer Microgaming release three brand new games. However, in its rather questionable wisdom, the developer only chose to make two off the games mobile compatible, while the third (called Golden Princess) is available only to desktop players. Because of this oversight, I’m only going to tell you about the mobile slots – if you’re dying to know about Golden Princess, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
Released just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, this Irish wonder does the best at dealing with an overused theme. The 5 reel slot has 20 paylines which are all always active, meaning that a minimum bet is always 20p. While this may annoy some players who like to mix up their paylines, you’ll probably get over it when you realise that this feature heavy slot has a so much to offer, you can hardly complain.
Things to look out for in this game have to be things like Stacked Wilds – which do exactly what they say on the tin – as well as the special bonus round, Trail O’ Fortune. In the Trail O’ Fortune, you play with the little leprechaun character as he makes his way round a progressive trail to decide which multiplier you’ll receive. All this teamed with beautiful HD graphics make this game one to check out sooner rather than later.
Speaking of HD graphics, that’s the most important element of the other mobile release from Microgaming this month. Fans of the developer’s work may have already noted that it has previously released a slot with the name Adventure Palace, so you’re well within your rights to ask me what’s going on here. Well, rather than being a straightforward ‘launch’, the release of Adventure Palace is actually a relaunch and updating of the old version of the slot, which primarily has updated the graphics and animation, and brought it all into brilliant HD.
Unfortunately, Microgaming has stopped short of adding any exciting or exclusive new features to the game, meaning that your experience – while being a whole lot more vivid – won’t differ wildly from the original. 5 reels, 9 paylines, and the shot at 15 extra spins with 3x multipliers. That’s pretty much all you need to know about this slot.
Along with Microgaming, Playtech continues to be one of the older vanguard of mobile gaming. This said, the popular developer is still more than capable of turning out impressive and crowd pleasing slots and casino games, and has proved this fact again this week with the release of three brand new games for mobile, which can all be found now at top Playtech casinos.
While the Lucky Leprechaun slot appealed to the luck of the Irish, and provided us with a little leprechaun companion for our game, the White King slot makes everything feel incredibly regal, as we are joined by a white lion sidekick on this royal adventure. The 5 reel slot boast and impressive 40 paylines, which you’re able to select and deselect at will – giving it a distinct advantage of some of the other releases I’m discussing here.
While the basics are solid in this slot, the special features are where it comes into its own. The free bonus game which is triggered when you get three or more scatter symbols appearing on your reels is great feature, but almost certainly secondary to the Royal Touch feature, which allows you to stack wilds on all the active reels!
Secrets of the Amazon
Who says the jungle theme is over done in slots? Just because Adventure Palace is set deep within the undergrowth of an ancient jungle AND this new slot Secrets of the Amazon is as well, doesn’t mean that games creators are lacking inspiration… does it? Whatever it says about the creativity of the games studios, Secrets of the Amazon is still a solid slot and well worth checking out if you can put up with the cliché theme.
The protagonist of this slot is a nameless beauty who has made a home in the depth of the jungle, she’s your wild symbol, and will make sure you get double winnings if she’s included in a winning combination. The 5 reel, 20 payline slot includes a unique Moonflower bonus game which can see you landing yourself up to 50 extra spins with a whopping 50x multiplier.
The Alchemist’s Spell
I just realised; most of the slots I’m talking about here have a magical or mystical theme. Do you suppose there’s something about this time of year which causes people to look for a little escapism? The next one on that same trend is the last Playtech slot I have to tell you about – The Alchemist’s Spell.
The 5 reel slot features an impressive 243 paylines, extra spins and multipliers. Unfortunately, this isn’t the most thrilling slot in the world, and you’ll spend most of your time watching for the crystal scatter symbol which indicates you’ve landed yourself some extra spins. That said, when it does arrive, you’ll be pleased to find an up to 10x multiplier for your troubles.
Now, this NextGen Gaming game is yet to launch yet, but we know to expect it over the coming few weeks. The Psycho slot is one of the most highly anticipated of 2015 so far, and arguably the most exciting – at least thematically – to be released this month.
No prizes for guessing the inspiration behind this slot. It may be over 50 years since Hitchcock’s classic thriller film was released, but it’s now finally getting its own slot to commemorate what is widely considered to be one of the greatest pieces of cinema ever created. Shunning the film’s original monochrome pallet, the slot’s pastel hues and dingy backdrop perfectly set an ominous theme.
It’s not just appearance which makes this slot great. Over 5 reels and 25 paylines are packed a plethora of features. Random Wilds can offer you anything from 2x to 20x multipliers on successful lines, while you can land yourself 10, 15 or 20 extra spins from 3, 4 or 5 scatters respectively. If you want a little fright to liven up your gaming, you could do a lot worse than check out Psycho this month.
